Handpan Music

I create intuitive ancient trance sounds on my handpan that will allow you to fall into dreams at your spiritual event or private concert. I also go live on Instagram from time to time and post videos in my new YouTube channel. Make sure to visit me on a live event.

Handpan Lessons

I have been playing drums, percussion and handpan for over 25 years now and I would like to pass on this passion and sense of rhythm to the next generation. So if you feel like getting into the groove with me, get in touch and we will make it happen.

Sound Healings

With various percussion, melody and sound instruments such as the Ocean Drum, Kalimba, Handpan or singing bowl, I support you on your path to inner healing with sound healings in online/offline events, retreats, workshops and healing circles.

I currently offer private lessons (single lesson €50, 2 hours/month €95, 4 hours/month €180, 10 times 400€) as well as individual workshops and private sound healings on request.

Here's just another of these improvised sunset lives that I do every now and then to let my energies flow and follow my curiosity... 😇

Today I've picked up a new percussive finger snipping technique that I learnt from a banjo player that just joined my last workshop today.

One of the main lessons today was that I am actually memorizing movements and the balanced left-right turning of my hand like a ship skipping from one side to the other when the waves keep gently shaking it... 🌊

Playing the handpan and making music in general for me is more a way of intuitively expressing yourself and following your childish and innocent curiosity instead of replicating what someone else is doing.

So better #justfuckinbeurself instead of copying others or trying to be someone else.

You are unique, special and exactly right as you are! Including all fuck-ups, mistakes and imperfections...

This is what my inner flame 🔥 is burning for... 🪘🥁🎶

Music! Beats! Drums! Following the flow of rhythm! 🌊

Before this intense drumming night on the beach I did a deep inner healing journey in a quantum healing hypnosis session with @healershealingjourney.zu which was taking me back to a time in my previous life where I was stuck in myself. 🏰⚔️🛡️

I was witnessing myself being defeated as a wisdom keeper in a burnt down castle. I was starving and slowly dying after a brutal robbery of all it's treasures. 💰💎

But what I did not realize is that it was ME what the they were looking for coz I am carrying the wisdom inside of myself. The magic of my hands that are doing what they are doing when playing the handpan and percussion. 🥰

So never forget that YOU are the magic 🪄 - YOU carry the wisdom in your life inside of yourself! It's not something outside that you need to gain or protect, like financial wealth or a social status. What you have inside is YOUR magic & wisdom, it cannot get stolen. But you need to use it wisely and show your inner light to the world! 🔥

Learn to fly 💜🛸🎶

A musical story about growing into your own superpower...

This melody is haunting me for a while and was flowing so much up and down. Endlessly. I played it multiple times a day.

Until I decided tonight that I am going to play it live and tell a story to it. The story of how I grew into my power on the handpan and how far I came.

But as live is live I made so many mistakes that it became more like a judgemental observation of my mind. Not to fall victim of my upcoming anger and the thought of not being good enough.

My very first idea was to literally tell the story verbally while I am playing but this soon showed to fail due to my still limited capability of playing and talking intuitively at the same time.

But that's my dream, to be able to do both simultaneously. As I am also a dedicated verbal and written storyteller, combining both together just like a singer/songwriter is so much calling me.

Next level.

Acceptance. Being grateful for what I have already achieved. Unbelievable 2 years ago. And now here I am.

Learning to fly. Growing in my power.

Today I have recorded this special song as a cover from @kelseykluijtmansmusic which is very very intimate and so different to my other content here. I started to cry after the part which spoke to my inner child and when it came to mother earth. My emotions broke through and I couldn't hold back anymore... 😭

There was so much abuse in my family that when I heard "mother earth" my awareness focused on the human abuse of our planet earth. This reminded me of my family which also got destroyed by all the war inside and broke apart. This is why I do today what I do. To truly heal from within and end this war. ✋🏻

I am Manuel (45), living and working as a coach, sound & trauma healer from Munich/Germany currently on Madeira island. Here I am playing a private handpan concert on a @maginstruments F# Pygmy 21 scale from @soundsculpturehandpan for the lucky cows in Fanal forest (Madeira).

If you ever happen to be on the island feel free to reach out for a jam, lesson, workshop or sound healing. The first handpan retreat for absolute & advanced beginners is taking place from the 25th to 30th of March 2025 in a posh villa with a pool in Estreito da Calheta which is in the sunny south of this paradise island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

It just happened after a call with my coach @christmann_max who reminded me of who I really am, why I am allowed to experience all the trauma feelings on my journey and what their true gift is! 🎁

Their gift is to follow my dream of doing what I REALLY love, and that's making music and JUST PLAY!!! 😇🥰🥳

Starting this new year with deep emotions on my new @maginstruments F# Pygmy 21 handpan provided by @soundsculpturehandpan 🥹

After having seen this baby the first time a few weeks ago when @leanderhandpan was playing it at Sound Sculpture Mainz I immediately felt the strong connection to it and knew that this is supposed to become mine. 🥰

After arriving on the last day of 2024 I didn't immediately fall in love for some reason coz else I would have not been going to see the mind-blowing fireworks in Funchal on that night and feel what I needed to feel first. 🎆

Then on the next day after having experienced what I needed to experience I felt this strong connection with my inner child. The little boy inside of me felt this huge old pain of not being deeply seen and wanted as he is, of not being able to set healthy boundaries during the biggest part of his life. 💔

This priceless experience on this unique instrument helped me to connect deeply with this inner part of myself that wants to be truly seen and accepted as he is. 🤗

It will set the sails for what I am going to bring to life in 2025: the first handpan retreats on Madeira island! 🏝️

If you are a total beginner and always wanted to learn playing the handpan in a supportive environment in nature where you are truly seen as you are then this is going to be for YOU! 🫵🏻

Today was the first time after a few weeks of inner and outer healing from a heavy skin infection where I went out and played in front of an audience. It was at the lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo on Madeira where dozens of foreign visitors watched the sunset with me while listening to the ocean and enjoying my handpan music...

Suddenly when I started to play the unprepared spectators went totally silent and I became aware how I was carrying this vibe and musically interpreted the sun rays while the far away planet was hiding behind some clouds and finally left to move to the other side or our blue planet.

I guess I will dedicate this experience more often to this magical place and add my gift to this scenery. Thanks for listening to me and diving into this common moment of silence, insight and listening within.

🌞✨ Recently at the Miradouro da Eira do Serrado, me and Manuel were having a blast doing what we love—playing the handpan and capturing scenes for our upcoming documentary about trauma and our Higher Self Path.

While we were in our flow, more and more people started to gather around us. At first, it could have felt like a distraction, a noise for the video we shot that day as well, but instead of resisting the moment, we embraced it.

Suddenly I hear how Manuel is exchanging energy with them through his music, the frequency of the handpan reflecting, almost translating, people’s energy, of curiosity and appreciation of that beautiful view and song.

It’s amazing how life mirrors our own healing journey—when we open ourselves up, let go of control, and simply allow things to unfold, magic happens.

Being seen, giving unconditionally, and being open to receive in the same way is part of that flow. The unpredictability, the unexpected moments—they’re not disruptions; they’re an invitation.

We had a choice: to retreat and stay hidden, or to stay open and enjoy the ride. We chose to let ourselves be seen, to share joy, and to connect with others.

Mooooo... 🐄🏝️🛸🎶

Recently I was playing handpan into Madeira's sunset on my roof terrace with a view in a duet with my neighbor on four feet. The bull was waiting for the farmer to come bring him fresh water while I was further developing my recent melody on this Teana C# minor handpan with bottom notes and enjoying the sun diving into the ocean again. 🌅

I couldn't really decide if the mooing was more distracting or supporting but in the end I just went with the flow and integrated his voice by going in a dialog with him at some time. 😇 And the farmer must anyway think that some alien 👽 has landed here... 😅

What sound healing really means to me...

In this reel I talk about what sound healing makes so special to me and how it deeply works. It's not about having some candles and saying something fancy, it's about connecting deeply with ourselves. Feeling all the emotions within us.

When I play the handpan I am making myself vulnerable as I am connected with my wounded inner child that just wants to be playful and have fun. This is the space that I am creating for my clients to allow them to also open up for deep inner healing. Coz this is not something you can buy, it's not something you can make up, either it's there or not.

Evolving a melody and failed expectations ☠️

I am going to share my recent lives with you to give you an insight of my musical development.

Promo first: you can also learn how to play the handpan like me in my next beginners workshop in Funchal on Saturday August 31st at noon!

Back to the story: so I had this melody of "Find Back To Life" in my head and wanted to develop it further, evolve my playing style and record it with HQ sound. So I stopped playing, set up everything first and then recorded/streamed it. But then I couldn't match my expectations as things felt weird: suddenly progressions didn't work well anymore, the sound wasn't as good as expected and the headphone cable sucked. ☠️

But this is just reality which is why I wanna share this with you uncut. Life is not about being perfect or showing off, it's about facing what's really there and wants to be seen. Imperfection. Failing. Not meeting your own expectations. And finding the beauty in it. Accepting that this is what is currently there, no matter what you had in your mind before...

This is me. I felt annoyed at times in this video. I lost my motivation in between. Wanted to stop the video. Lost myself in distraction with a different pattern/rhythm in the middle. But found back to the melody and that's what it was all about. In the end it felt completely different to what I had hoped for. But still it helped me to practice the piece and use my audio gear to record and share it.

“Find back to life” 💫

Do you know these periods in your life where you can rarely feel yourself and seem like disconnected from the world around you? 🤔

Where you crave for connection in the outside but cannot find it wherever you look for it? 🙈

And then distract yourself trying to not feel this isolation and hopelessness? 📺

After having been diving through such a period in my life recently where I was not feeling my self-worth at all and being really disconnected from myself this new melody came up that made me addicted to play it over and over again. It always reminds me of that rebirth moment and how I discovered myself again through this melody. It felt like finding back to life again, after having been emotionally dead. ☠️

The handpan for me is not just any instrument, it is a connection to my true inner self, my wounded inner children that craves for unconditional love and wants to live its full authenticity! 💜

This was the last absolute beginners handpan workshop on Madeira island! 🏝

Every last Saturday of the month there is currently a workshop where you can learn to play this beautiful meditative instrument and get a deeper connection with yourself. 💫

This and the last one have been taken place outdoor in the quiet and green southwest of the island with a stunning view on the ocean. 🌊

We have been learning the basics about handpan playing from wording, beating the tone fields, practicing the tone scale and learning about differences on Celtic and Kurd, chords, melodies, rhythms to independent playing. 🎶
